Description
This kit is simple and rapid detection kit for foodborne pathogens utilizing immunochromatographic assay. Simple test procedure with simply dropping specimens of enrichment culture to a test strip. Rapid judgment of test results, by checking the reddish purple test line simply after 15 minutes from the start of assay. Listeria is widely distributed in nature, including soil, rivers, and vegetables. Since it is more resistant to heat, salt, and acid than other bacteria and can grow even in refrigerators##(1)###, it may cause food intoxication at fooddistribution level when it grows to a specific infectious count.
The epidemic of the infection with Listeria through foods including milk, cheese, vegetables, and meat has been reported around the world. In the United States, it is estimated thatabout 2,500 people are infected with it and about 500 of them die of it every year##(2)###. Although no food intoxication by Listeria has been reported in Japan, it can occur because the food contamination rate in Japan is at almost the same level asthatin Western countries##(3,4)###.
